Although football isn't Logan's game, after 3 days of tryouts he made the 2nd team. He's pleased to get in and get fit for basketball season. The footie players will go to Budapest for some matches later in the year..sounds like fun!

Tony, Tricia, Joshua and Bethany came for a week (last week) We had such fun, visiting new places such as Heidelberg and Rudesheim. We ate lunch in the garden and dinner each evening followed by silly games by candlelight. It was all so wonderful.
Hugh was called onto the Bishopric yesterday, the Offenbach 2nd ward (International) There is a interesting mix of people but English is the spoken language. We decided that that ward would be the best for us non German speakers at this time.
Logan is trying out for the F.I.S football team, he just came home hot and sweaty. His heart is really attached to a basketball but since it's not the season he will go for Alastair dream sport.
Will let you know how he gets on. He has another 2 days to go...
You can see the school on line (Frankfurt International School) Our Bishop works there, as does another member of the church. Logan has a trip to the Netherlands coming up soon and the teacher asked if there were any LDS kids in the class (the 1st day of school) Logan said yes and the teacher said they will leave after his meetings on that Sunday, NICE!!
So far we LOVE Germany, it is beautiful and the weather is fab.

Family in Town
Hollie arrived on Wednesday, no luggage and the wrong time. We arrived as planned around 10am but since she missed one of her connections her plane came in late afternoon.
We went home and have a wee nap before heading out again. The airport is 20 minutes from the house so not bad at all.
We got to have a nice bit of time with Hollie before Tony, Tricia, Josh and Bethany arrived on Saturday.
So the house is full, just how we like it. So far we've been supermarket shopping, walking in the forest and out for ice cream in Oberursel (superb!)
Logan gave a good talk in Sacrament meeting and Katalin was announced as the new Seminary teacher.
It's 31 degrees today, had our dinner on the patio under the awning the last couple of days, candlelight at night playing games.

We Got Here At Last!
We've been in Germany for just over 4 weeks now. I would say it has been the hardest move of all so far. It rained the day our things arrived, it took a while to do the job between the heavy showers. With no cupboards it was difficult to get things out away. We had to buy shelving and wardrobes. Hugh did a great job of assembling flat pack stuff from Ikea.
We attacked the garden as soon as we could, conifer trees had overtaken the small space that we have. The living room was dark and miserable, we just had to do it.
All the passers by stare like you wouldn't believe, it's funny to see. Germans like to stare for a good long while, all the time you are wondering what they are thinking. We're not sure if they are disgusted with us or not? some cars have even backed up to get a better look. We were amazed that there was actually a nice wee garden under it all. We are pleased with our handy work and enjoy daylight coming into the house.
We live next to the most lovely forest so have taken lots of nice walks in the evenings. Other than that, we have ventured only to do food shopping, church, Ikea, D.I.Y places and the local park which has the nicest outdoor pool.
Logan has had the best time so far. His two best friends (from International School in Ghana) are from Germany, and can you believe that one of them lives only 5km from us. The other is from Berlin. Last summer they came to visit us in England and this summer they have been together quite a bit. Domonic now lives in Tanzania and Mirko is still in Ghana. They come back for their summer hols. Also Logan has been to EFY, he had a blast with all the new customs and loved it all. Unlike what we are used to, he had to ballroom dance, there is no dancing other than with a partner and doing all the proper dance steps. When I heard that this was going to happen, I thought NO WAY, he won't like that. He came home so excited and determined to take a dance class to be the best he can be. He said it's a great way to impress the girls! He also managed to get the really cute girl to translate for him the whole week, he was very happy with the whole thing.
Connor went to Deacon's camp and made new friends there too.
We live only a few km from the Temple in Freidrichsdorf. Oberursel is a nice place, we live right down the road from school. I was worried about the possible travel arrangemnets to and from school each day as some kids are out of the house from about 7am until 5pm, I have heard of worse than that. I really didn't like the idea at all. This house is such a blessing to us, 300metres from home, PERFECT.
We live on 4 levels, a tall and narrow house. 5 bedrooms, one of which is now a study. It has a large Den for the boys down in the basement. Ideal for them to play their 'music' and X Box etc.
